There's a new push to recruit younger people into farming.
The National Farmers Unions is creating a national campaign aimed at bringing awareness to the rapid decline in the number of young farmers in Canada.
Better education programs and farmer training will be used to try to bring younger producers into agriculture.
Numbers from Statistics Canada reveal that between 1991 and 2006, Canada lost over 60 per cent of its farmers under the age of 35. The NFU says the ongoing trend has taken its toll on the food supply and agricultural systems. (CKLQ, ccg)
