American police have revealed details of a sensational murder for hire plot involving two partners in an Edmonton laser surgery clinic who couldn't see eye to eye.
Doctor Michael Mockovak, one of the co-founders of the Clearly Lasik chain, faces two counts of criminal solicitation to commit first-degree murder. One of the alleged targets is his Edmonton based partner, Doctor Joseph King.
Court documents filed in Washington state say an informant told the FBI that Mockovak wanted to hire a hit-man from the Russian Mob to kill King and a former Clearly Lasik employee who was suing for wrongful dismissal. In the documents covering a nine month investigation, Mockovak refers to King as "a greedy snake" and later talks about cashing in on a multi million dollar insurance policy after his partner's death.
Mockovak is in custody and King is said to be laying low in Seattle. (EM, ccg)
