The Canadian Cattlemen's Association has applauded the World Trade Organization for agreeing to Canada's request for the creation of a Dispute Settlement Panel to rule on the United States' mandatory Country-of-Origin Labelling law.
Although the WTO process will take a long time, association spokesman Travis Toews believes there is no other option.
Toews says several visits to Washington have sparked no interest from American officials to resolve the issue. He says obtaining a panel ruling from the WTO may motivate US lawmakers to address the problem. (The Canadian Press, ccg)
