The Expo will cost you nothing but money. That's the message from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
Scott Hennig, the Alberta Director of the CTF said you can expect your taxes will continue to rise if the city dumps money into the project.
Hennig said that the Expo Committee is doing a bang up job of misinforming Edmontonians, “The committee is doing real hard work to show Edmontonians that this is going to be like Expo 67 or Expo 86, nothing could be further from the truth.” "Those were 6 month registered Expos where this will be a 3 month recognized Expo. "Expo 67 had 50 million visitors; Expo 86 had 22 million while Edmonton projects to have about 4.7 million."
He added the idea the Expo would generate $ 2.3 billion for the Alberta economy is a joke. (ls)
