The Edmonton Capitals lost a close game to the Victoria Seals by a score of 4-3.
Capitals pitcher Chris little was a little shaky in the first inning. The Seals took advantage by putting up three runs. Little not allow another run and would give the Capitals a decent outting going five and a third innings, giving up twelve hits while striking out four and walking two batters.
The Capitals managed only six hits on the night thanks to Victoria pitcher Jeff Duda. Duda went six innings and only gave up a run thanks to an error by his infield in the fifth inning.
The Seals would score another run to make it four runs on the night for them in the seventh. Edmonton would add two runs in the eight to pull within a run but failed to produce any runs in the ninth.
The Capitals will rap up their three game series against the Seals Thursday night, which is also the last home game of the season for the Capitals. First pitch is at 7:05. (mp)

Cliff Brumbaugh returned to the Edmonton Capitals in a huge way on Tuesday night, blasting a pair of solo home runs to lead his team past the Victoria Seals 5-2 and start the final homestand of the 2010 regular season.
The heavy-hitting first baseman hadn't played since August. 17 versus the Tucson Toros, as he returned home to be with his wife for the birth of their third son. And oh baby, did he ever make his presence known upon his return, cranking two homers over the left field wall.
The longballs were his 20th and 21st of the year, as he leads the Golden Baseball League.(rp)

Edmonton Eskimos kicker Noel Prefontanie has been named the CFL's Special Teams Player of the Week.Prefontaine kicked three field goals in the Eskimos 17-14 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday including the game winner from 37 yards with 38 seconds left in the fourth quarter.He also hit field goals of 14 yards and the tying points from 52 yards. In fact, Prefontaine scored 11 of team's 17 points.He also recorded a punt average of 46.3 yards.

The Edmonton Eskimos came back from a 14-0 first quarter deficit, to beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 17-14.
It marked the second win of the season for the Esks, thanks to a couple of late field goals from Kicker Noel Prefontaine.

Saskatchewan led the scoreboard, 14-11, with just four minutes left, when Roughriders quarterback Darian Durrant was intercepted by T-J Hill at midfield, leading to a huge 52-yard field goal. It was one of three interceptions by the Eskimos.
Then, Prefontaine nailed a 37-yarder with 37 seconds left on the clock.
The Eskimos now improve to 2-and-6. They move into third place in the CFL's West Division, one game up on the BC Lions.
Saskatchewan remains in second in the West at 5-and-3. (twd, ccg)

UPDATE: Edmonton Oilers General Manager, Steve Tambellini, released the following statement regarding Friday’s decision from the Scottsdale City Court regarding Nikolai Khabibulin.
"The Edmonton Oilers acknowledge and respect the decision handed down (Friday) by the Scottsdale City Court to goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin. Both Nikolai and the Oilers organization recognize the severity of what has transpired. We plan on meeting with Nikolai, his agent and the National Hockey League in the near future."
Once sentencing has been imposed, on Tuesday (August 31st), Tambellini says he will be available to speak the media.

Khabibulin found guilty on three charges

The Edmonton Oilers could be without their starting goaltender, come the start of training camp.
Nikolai Khabibulin has been found guilty of three charges against him, after being caught driving drunk in Arizona earlier this year.
Khabibulin faced a judge alone on Friday afternoon and had one count of ''DUI with impairment to the slightest'' dropped. He was found guilty of ''DUI with a blood alcohol level of .08'', ''excessive speed'' and ''extreme DUI with a blood alcohol of .15 or more''.

The Tucson Toros got off to a great start and kept the Capitals at bay Thursday night.
The Toros managed a four-run first inning which led to a 6-5 win over Edmonton.
Capitals shortstop Erenesto Cruz kept his hitting streak alive at 27 games with a three-run solo homer in the fifth.
The teams meet again Friday night in Tucson.

You've heard it a lot from the Oilers and their supporters -- that there's nowhere to go but up, after last season.

Keeping with that, "up" is where the Oilers have looked to find a replacement for Hockey Hall-of-Famer Rod Phillips, as the "voice of the Oilers" on iNews880 sister station, 630 CHED.
The job goes to Jack Michaels. The Pennsylvania native spent the last eight seasons doing play-by-play for the Anchorage-based Alaska Aces of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). That seems like a world away from Edmonton, but make no mistake, he's well aware of the history of the "copper and blue."
"I've got to date myself -- I'm a child of the 80's, so all I remember is one cup after another," said Michaels, after being introduced as the team's new broadcaster on 630 CHED Tuesday morning.
"It kind of kicked in when I flew down here to interview. 'I'm going to interview for the play-by-play job for the Edmonton Oilers.' This is all I saw growing up."

The Edmonton Capitals wrapped up their six game series against the Vipers on a winning note.
They took down their provincial rivals 7-3 at Telus Field Monday night. The Caps ended up with five of the six victories.
They have eleven games left in the regular season, starting with a 4 game set vs. the Tucson Toros starting Thursday. (jc/rp)

He was the favorite horse from Wednesday afternoon right up untill post time and No Hesitation didn't dissapoint as jockey Rico Walcott led the horse to the winners circle of the 81st Canadian Derby at Northlands Park.

No Hestitation started fast, fell back in the middle of the race, and then charged to victory in the final lap.
Kara's Orientation finished second, Distorted Dave finished third.
There's was a crash during the second lap between Professor Pollard and Dyna Stroll but thankfully both jockeys and horses walked away with no serious injuries.
It was also a great day for 630 CHED listener Bob Maskell who won a $2,500 betting voucher from The Bryan Hall Show and picked No Hesitation to win. He walks away with a cool $5,875 cash.
