A local television show about the ups-and-downs of running a family restaurant is headed for a German film festival.
"Family Restaurant: The Quons" is a documentary series about Edmonton's Quon family which runs the downtown Lingnan restaurant. It's been selected through a juried process to be included in the "Just Watch Me!" Berlin screening room.
The show is both shot and produced locally, through Edmonton based Anaid Productions.
Anaid Productions' Helen Schmidt says she is hoping this will raise the profile of both their company and the Lingnan, internationally. "This is something that runs out of the embassy in Berlin, and Canadian producers can submit projects there to be part of the screening room, and they basically bring together different broadcasters in Germany to screen the products and see if they want to purchase them"
"Family Restaurant: The Quons" was selected for inclusion in the event from over 90 submissions.(sb, ro)
