They took cover at Capital EX, and just about everywhere in the city as a system of severe thunderstorms ripped through the capital region.

The storm brought heavy rain, marble-sized hail, and triple-digit wind gusts that snapped branches off trees like they were nothing more than toothpicks.

Emergency crews were kept hopping, with Edmonton Fire Rescue saying that just before midnight, every station was busy dealing with some aspect of the storm. EPCOR crews were pleading with patience from customers due to widespread power outages.

Our thanks to Trevor Prentice who submitted this video, which documents the storm at Capital Ex.
