In only one week from this Friday, Canadian athletes will start trying to own the podium.
Right now, Olympic officials are unveiling what the podiums will actually look like.
There are 23 different podiums, all made from more than 200 pieces of wood. They are designed to reflect the coastal mountains and act as a metaphor for the mountains the athletes have climbed to reach their victory.
To match the podiums, the medal trays are also wooden. They will be carried by volunteers who will wear costumes, provided by Vancouver-based boutique "Aritzia". The costume consists of a belted sweater coat, a silk neck scarf and RCMP-inspired boots. (CKNW, ccg)
