A Pickering man is facing charges in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Scarborough last October.
The victim, a 41-year-old construction worker was working on the roadway at Eglinton Avenue East, west of Midland Avenue on Wednesday, Oct. 12 when he was struck by a BMW travelling eastbound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver failed to remain at the scene and the car was recovered later that same day.
The province’s police watchdog, the SIU took over the investigation when it became apparent that the suspect was being pursued by police at the time of the collision.
Police confirmed on Wednesday that Jovon Henry had been arrested on Jan. 6. in connection with the investigation.
The 28-year-old is facing six charges in connection with the incident including leaving the scene of an accident causing death and criminal negligence causing death.
He appeared in court to face the charged on Jan. 6.
